"...wish I had courage like that..."
while I wonder at those eyes like glowing coals crushed
into disappointed diamonds, sparkling and spluttering before me.
Blue-black holes, bruised with deprivation and force-feeding, but still burning, still yearning, to pull away
from the sci-fi shangri-la  of cool commericial chains that dangle
and tangle but will not hold the fragile weight of a smooth white egg shaking and shelled -
a ripe rolling stone, strung out on the stars, and trapped in cars.

Flick"Shake that thing hoes!" The radio mumbles on it's own electric tribal tones, rattling her outermost bones and skipping right over
her twinkling toes.
See her shimmy and shimmer in the cozy zooming gloom of starlight and dashboard displays, as she lashes out at these white-wash exteriors, a dissapointing wharehouse
of ready-made kicks.
She more than shakes, she takes this blubbering box
from off the wall, and stomps all over the bumbling, boisterous, and boy-ish beats.           Trifling and triumphant, she flicks the dial. Flick

Winning over LossThe crazily cordial crowd danced my arms from stiches and through their slippery sleeves, casting off
my self-righteous hero-child's cap of needles, and taking from me a cross, for which they are gratefully forgiven, even as I have been forsaken, forgotten, but also forgetting the parables I've passed - that fateful destiny unsought by me.

This is our cave, stooping over sidewalks, high in the candescence
of the canopied streetlamps, with the rhythms of our skipping hearts
